The Men's &Women's tournaments envisioned by three locals in 1970 is now in 2024 approaching its 53 rd year and has grown from the modest beginnings of two competitions, 18 games, 12 teams and a crowd of 350 , to a national institution and one of the biggest events of its kind in Ireland. In recent years it has grown to 23 competitions featuring approximately 170 games run over five days between more than 150 teams, 1700 players and crowds numbers of about 13,000 fans.
