The Story of Neptune Stadium

In the early days some members of the Neptune Basketball Club had the dream or maybe the vision of having their own facility. In the late 60's and early 70's they had started discussions with the Cork Corporation in their efforts to get a piece of land they could call their own.  (See Google Maps) In September of 1974 their efforts were rewarded with the allocation of a plot of land on Sun Valley Drive.
The initial goal was to first build an outdoor court. In those days the funds for this were mainly raised by the efforts of the Neptune family ( young and old) thru raffles, pub "cup / tin" collections and private donations. But within a few years those small goals changed in a very big way in part due to another game. BINGO!
